Job Summary

The Planner plays a key role in modernization of the vital statistics system, legislative and rulemaking processes, including assuring a high-functioning operation and cohesive statewide system of vital record, engaging communities, gathering information, developing policies, and coordinating technical assistance. 

This senior-level position provides planning, project management, consultation, and expertise to support leadership in the Office of Vital Records and lead activities to maximize statewide operations and drive process improvement.  This position will help maintain a strong operational infrastructure that aligns with national standards and Public Health Accreditation Board standards and measures, lead short and long-term projects that advance core functions and modernize the system, and collaborates with other senior-level and Registrar’s Office colleagues and professionals.

Initial goals and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following: 
 

  • Coordinate vital records rulemaking activities.

  • Manage projects to propose and implement new laws including access to original birth records for adopted persons.

  • Assist with strategic planning and lead the development of section and unit-specific work plans and ongoing maintenance of the continuity of operations plan.

  • Coordinate and support program activities associated with funding related to data modernization.

  • Collaborate with leadership, others in the Registrar’s Office, and stakeholders to provide consultation, project management, and technical assistance to improve and modernize the vital records system.
     

This position has the option for 100% telework or a hybrid work schedule for applicants who reside in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, South Dakota or North Dakota.
